It is a matter of both pride as well as rejoice that Guru Ghasidas University Celebrated its 2nd Convocation ceremony on 25th of January 2011.The Chief Guest on the occasion was Eminent Defence scientist known for his work on Agni Missile and D.G.,DRDO Dr.Vijay Kumar Saraswat  and His excellency Hon'ble Governor of Chhattisgarh Sh.Shekhar Dutt was Special Guest.The ceremony was presided by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Laxman Chaturvedi.The University conferred the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) on Dr. Saraswat and on Prof.Akunuri K.Ramayya ,respectively.The University also conferred PhD. Degrees to 24 Scholars and Gold Medals to 73 Students who topped in different courses run by the University.Ms.Priyanka of Department of Management Studies ,GGU received Gold Medal, as topper of  M.B.A 2010.Ms. Anika Puri of II Sem of M.B.A. also received Gold Medal as topper of P.G.D.B.M. 2010.





Dr. Laxman Chaturvedi gave the presidential address and also presented the Annual Report  on this occasion.Dr. Saraswat gave the convocation address on this occasion.

Management students carried the day at the foundation day events of GGU.

On 15 th of January, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidayalaya celebrated its second anniversary of becoming A central University as Foundation Day.Various events were held on this occasion like sports ,cultural activities and model exhibition contests.2nd edition of student magazine "UDAAN" was also inaugurated on this occasion Students of Department of Management Studies participated enthusiastically in almost all of these events regardless of limited time available for preparation after the semester break.

In sports events The Cricket team of DMS finished as runners up in the final held.The team lost in a neck to neck fight which stretched til the last over of the match.The team put a daunting target of 102 runs target to the team from CSE&IT department of Engineering.Batsmen Sudip Chakarborty (IV SEM) and Rahul Thote(II SEM) made 36 runs each.In a close struggle the team lost.The team defeated team from Biotech department in semifinals and team from B.ED department in league match,respectively.Rahul Kashyap(IV SEM) got 5 wickets (a hatrick included) in the league match and  thus received a round of applause from the audience.

In Athletics too the students secures all three top positions in race.Sushma and Ravi Singh were the position holders.

In Table Tennis Binoy babu cleared initial rounds.Students also participated in Basket ball,Volley Ball,Rassa khich and slow cycling.

In cultural events too students participated enthusiastically.

In model exhibition contest 7 teams from department presented their models based on Attrition Management,Traffic Management,Business Model of Shopping Mall,Management principles taught by Movies,Corporate social responsibility etc.Results of contest are awaited.Students participate were Shaheen Bhabha,Rahul Kashyap,Rahul Shekdar,Chandrakant Kashyap,Anika Puri,Sukhdev Sharma ,Bhupendra singh,Kushal Saluja,Shobhana Jha ,Anandan Lakshmi,Sunita Mishra,Deepa Sahu, and others.

In the nutshell huge participation by Management students in the Foundation Day showed their multifaceted talent.

Fundamental Research and its Commercialisation

Guru Ghasidas University organised a two day National Seminar On Ferroelectrics and Diaelectrics on 03-04 December 2010.More than 160 Research Scholars from 21 states presented therie papers at the seminar.Reputated institutions like IISc Banglore,IIT Kharagpur,IIT Madras,IIT Roorkee,IIT Delhi,IIT Mumbai and about 100 institutions were represented.Prominent scientists like Dr. Kamal Singh,Prof. Abhaymaan Singh,Prof. S.B.Kripanidhi,Prof.L.Bhatt,Prof. .V.R.K.Murti,Prof.Amitesh Sen,Prof.M.T.Sabastian,Prof.S.K.Bandhopadhyay,Prof.A.K.Thakur,Prof.T.P.Sinha,Prof.S.S.N.Murti,Prof. R.P.Tandon,Prof. I.M.Govil,Prof. Chandraprakash and thers gave lectures at the seminar.Participants presented their papers on various topics like ceramics,nano materials,composites,new processing technologies,Nanotechnology etc.
Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Guru Ghasidas University Shri Laxman Chaturvedi conferred honor to Dr. Kamal Singh,former Vice Chancellor of Sant Gaadge Unversity,Amravati,Maharashtra, in recognition of her exemplary work in field of Phisics.(picture)

Her contribution in research about Lithium Niobate is recognised by the world.Lithium neobate is an useful compound with wide range of applications especially mobile telphones and optical modulators.
